Bass lessons for women and non-binary adults 21+, tailored to your experience level. Learn foundational bass technique, finger-style and pick playing, grooves, timing, scales, walking bass lines, locking in with drums, tone shaping, music theory, ear training, fretboard confidence, and creative expression—whatever you need to feel solid and powerful on bass! Taught by low-end legend Andrea Carroll. Great for: Women and non-binary adults 21+ in Austin who are looking for inclusive bass lessons in a radically supportive, non-intimidating music community. Punk, personal, and pressure-free. Gear: 🎸 For bass lessons: please bring your own 4-string bass guitar and cable. If you don’t currently have access to a bass (or an amp for practicing at home), you can rent gear monthly from Rock N Roll Rentals. About the Instructor: Andrea Carroll (she/her) has been rockin’ out on bass guitar for nearly 30 years and brings decades of live performance, recording, and touring experience to her teaching. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance and is a multi-instrumentalist who loves helping students build confidence and musical connection. Andrea is especially passionate about cheering students on through those “light bulb” moments as skills start to click. Outside of music, she’s involved in local activism and nonprofit work, supports fellow musicians at live shows, and can often be found geeking out over comics, TV shows, or enjoying a friendly game of pool or trivia. Payment: Payment of $85 for a single lesson or $340 for a 4-pack of lessons is due in full on the day you sign up. Payment is accepted via credit card, debit card, Affirm, or PayPal. ** Note: When you purchase a 4-pack, you’ll book each lesson’s day and time individually.
Cancellation Policy
RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATION / NO-SHOW POLICIES: ALL CLASSES: - If you cancel your Femme Rock enrollment (includes group instrument classes, band classes, Bring Your Own Band, and long-term bookings of private lessons) at least two weeks before the start of your first class, we will issue you a class credit to use on a different Femme Rock class or workshop of the same value. If you cancel on or after that date, there is no refund. We encourage students to find someone to "sub-in" and cover your spot for you. - Additionally, Femme Rock has the right to cancel group or band classes if not enough students sign up. Band classes require a minimum of 4 participants, and group instrument classes require a minimum of 3 participants. If your class is canceled before the session, we will issue you a class credit to use on a different Femme Rock class or workshop of the same value. BAND CLASSES & BYOB: - If you cannot show up to class, you will have to give your bandmates a 7 day notice. - If you are sick, please let us know 3 hours before class. - Bands are allowed 1 free reschedule, any others past that will be charged $50 an hour (split between your bandmates). - If you do not show up for your first 3 classes, you will be replaced with a “fill in” with no refund or class credit. PRIVATE LESSONS: - All private lesson single or 4-pack must be completed within the originally set timeframe and end date (lessons are scheduled for either every week or every other week). We understand that unexpected life events occur, and allow up to two lesson reschedules during the private lesson pack timeframe. - To keep our scheduling fair and consistent for both students and instructors, each 4-pack of private lessons includes up to two reschedules with at least 48 hours’ notice. - If a lesson is canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, if more than two reschedules are requested, or if a student does not show up, that lesson is not refundable and cannot be rescheduled. **These policies aren’t meant to scare anybody but instead, to help establish respect and accountability with your band and/or instructors. We appreciate your understanding as we uphold this policy to support our instructors’ time and our community’s overall flow.
